Research Physiologist

Department: Pre-Clinical
Location: College Station, TX

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an individual with critical thinking skills to develop solutions to complex problems in an evolving startup environment. The successful candidate will work as a skilled and detail-oriented Research Physiologist in PROFUSA’s Technology Development/Pre-Clinical Group. Working closely with a highly motivated team of scientists and engineers, the candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:

  • Model the effects of analyte consumption/diffusion, tissue structure, and disease state to understand/predict sensor response.
  • Develop experiments and animal models to help in developing sensors and analyzing sensor performance
  • Assist in planning and executing pre-clinical experiments (may require periodic travel).
  • Develop and maintain standard reference measurements for measurements in vivo.
  • Prepare standard samples for and characterize tissue histological response to implanted materials.
  • Write and implement SOPs, Test Protocols, and Test Reports.
  • Record all data and procedures in a well-maintained, detailed laboratory notebook, and summarize results in technical memos and in presentations.

Qualifications

  • Masters or Doctorate Degree in Physiology, Pathology, Biology/Systems Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and work quality
  • Qualified to serve as Principal Investigator for NIH funded research on interstitial fluid physiology and biomaterial-tissue interface.

Experience

  • Experience in physiology and/or pathology
  • Preferable experience working in the space of biometric sensing
  • Preferable experience in animal research
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully plan out and complete projects
